D.I.D chain kits contain the correct D.I.D chain as well as the correct countershaft & rear sprocket from the main OEM manufacturers Sunstar, JT and ESJOT.
D.I.D chains conform to the latest ISO9001 standard.
The long service life cycle of D.I.D chains stems from the exclusive DHA steel tempering process creating a highly durable surface while retaining a stress absorbing inner core
Depending on your bike, the chain construction will be of X-, Z-, O- or Standard type:
X-Ring Chains:
A D.I.D patented version of the O-Ring chain design, delivering reduced friction between roller and pin links as the X-Ring twists between them. Guarantees greater protection from water and grit ingress through a doubling of the number of surfaces that seal in the factory injected grease. Half the power loss and 1.5-2 times longer wear resistance compared to standard O-Ring chains.
Z-Ring Chains:
A version of the X-Ring design with similar performance characteristics to an X-Ring chain.
O-Ring Chains:
The O-Ring chain was the first real innovation in the design of chain drives. A small O-shaped ring seals high-pressure grease into the space between inner and outer links. The O-Ring keeps the grease in and dirt and grit out from the most vulnerable part of the chain. An O-Ring chain has a longer life span if compared to a Standard chain.
Standard Chains:
The traditional chain design benefiting from the innovations around steel tempering to give it a long life span. Manufactured without high-pressure grease sealed into the space between inner and outer links. As a result it requires more frequent chain lube intervals to ensure a long and healthy life.
Caution: Never allow battery acid to come in contact with a chain. If it does, change the chain immediately. Ensure that the battery venting tube vents away from the chain and preferably below the chain.
General knowledge about chains worth having
Is it mandatory to exchange the sprocket set when changing the chain?Chain alignment and wear on the sprocket set are the key reasons for a shortened chain life cycle.
Most manufacturers recommend the exchange of the sprocket set with the chain therefore for good reasons. Given your safety depends on a reliable chain performance, so do we. And we make it easy by making the chains available in a complete set with sprockets.
What is the difference between an “endless” or riveted chain and one secured by a clip?
As a general rule, use chains with a spring clip closure only for up to 600 cc and /or 50 horse power. Any more power output from your engine, and you should use a staked or “endless” chain. Obviously as a temporary measure it is often convenient to use a spring clip especially when undertaking a home service of the chain. In which case ensure that the closed end is pointing into the driving direction of the bike as it moves. But it would be better to use the D.I.D chain splitter and riveter, which will help you complete your service of an “endless” D.I.D chain.
When and how should I lube my chain?Lube your chain at least every 300-350 miles and after journeys through rain. Always lube your chain from the inside and ensure surfaces and spaces inside the roller links as well as where roller and pin links touch are covered. This is best done when the chain is still warm after a journey which helps the lube to disperse better to where it is needed. Note: if you use chain lube with Teflon or Ceramic, please clean and lube your chain more often. Standard chains also require more frequent attention.
Should I use a wire brush to clean my chain?
Wire brushes are not recommended on O-, X- or Z-Ring chains. They damage the sealant rings and as a result shorten the life span of these types of chain.
Why are X-Ring chains meant to give better power performance? The reduced power loss of an X-Ring chain over conventional O-Ring chains stems from the greater amount of kinetic energy being absorbed when the O-Ring is squashed compared to an X-Ring, which twists.
Can I use these chain kits for racing? Please always use D.I.D ER series chains (“Exclusive Racing”) for track use.
The D.I.D chain kits are manufactured to an extremely high standard. We guarantee against production faults and will replace the chains free of charge. We do not take responsibility or liability for normal wear and tear, knock on effects of poor or wrong fitting, or liabilities arising from track use.
