Mandatory requirement in many European countries

■High-visibility vests are mandatory, also for foreign visitors, in the following countries: France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Finland, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Belgium, Montenegro, Norway, Romania, Slovakia and Austria. They must be worn outside built-up areas, when leaving your vehicle and in the event of a breakdown or an accident. This applies to all drivers of cars and lorries and to all motorcycle riders. The exception is Croatia, where wearing a hi-vis vest is not mandatory for motorcycle riders.
